Glens Golf Group
March 23, 2009, 11:15 am

The Glens golf courses have always been an asset to South Carolina. Located in the heart of South Carolina, these courses provide the heavenly links of Scotland, England and Ireland - right here in Myrtle Beach. The Glens Golf Group is a name that has become synonymous with "Great Golf."

Glen Dornoch

Myrtle Beach's most talked about course. Glen Dornoch is a masterful tribute to the legendary Donald Ross, in a spectacular setting of centuries old live oaks, marsh and Intracoastal Waterway views. Here each hole seems to have been crafted by nature rather than by man. And the three finishing holes are among the world's best.

Heather Glen

Discover for yourself why Golf Digest chose Heather Glen as l987's #1 new public course, and names it again and again as among the country's best. The course's 27 holes are even lovelier in maturity, its setting is truly spectacular, and the 19th Century clubhouse echoes its Scottish tradition.

Possum Trot

A long respected venue rated "Friendliest course on the strand" where the guest is #1. Spacious fairways and awesome Par 5's make for a golfing experience as good as it gets. Warm up on the area's most complete golf training center.

Shaftesbury Glen

Clyde Johnston captures the very essence of golf. Inspired by Winged Foot and Augusta National, he has delicately crafted a flowing dignified, traditional layout of wide fairways and elevated Bent greens, where you are immersed in every facet of the game. Here is golf as it was meant to be.

Sea Trail Plantation

Sea Trail Golf Courses are well regarded in the Myrtle Beach, SC area.

The Rees Jones Golf Course, which opened in the spring of 1990, is a perennial favorite of both visitors and locals. Designer-approved renovations to the course in 1999 brought a more naturalized look with native grasses and wildflower plantings.

willard byrd nc golf course Each hole of the Willard Byrd Course is memorable for both beauty and exacting play. Built around several man-made lakes, each ranging from 14-20 acres, every hole of this par-72 signature course requires a distinctly different approach to Byrd's undulating greens.

dan maples nc golf courseGolf Digest declared the Dan Maples Signature Golf Course as one of the "Best New Resort Courses" in the nation in 1986. Tall Carolina pines and A1/A4 blended Bent grass greens define each hole on the beautiful par-72 course, still regarded as one of Maples' finest.

Myrtle Beach Hotels worth noting
March 18, 2009, 7:10 pm

Myrtle Beach Hotels SC wants to keep our guests informed of upcoming events and changes in the Myrtle Beach area for the upcoming season:

The City of Myrtle Beach has instituted new biker ordinances that hare really not gone over well with the general market.  Whenever politicians get involved,   it just never seems to go well for anyone.   Comments from disappointed biker groups ran as follows:   "This isn't about the rallies. This is about the freedoms we have," said resident, motorcyclist and motel owner William O'Day. "As soon as you stop fighting for your freedoms, you lose them."

May will be an interesting month for Myrtle Beach without the planned rallies.  North Myrtle Beach has welcomed the bikers and Myrtle Beach is expecting Biker traffic,  even with the new ordinances.  Let's see how this plays out.

June, July, and August are filling in,  even with the current economic climate.  Cindy Hommes,  General Manager of Myrtle Beach Barefoot Resort stated,  "Our sales are up in the Month of March for the Summer season.  If gas prices can hold where they are,  the current economic climate should not adversely affect our Myrtle Beach Hotels this Summer."

Hard Rock Park: Re-opens in May with a much better team and much less debt.  John Stein,  the Park's new General Manager,  has been very busy meeting with area Myrtle Beach Hotels.    JD Redmon,  Vice President of Sales,  Myrtle-Beach.com recently visited with the team and reports that the park is working hard to create a new impression.  The park was aquired this year by new ownership for $25 million and plans to re-theme the park with $39 day passes and no charges for parking.

Myrtle Beach Hotels are running more discounts this Summer to attract visitors.  Check our listings here to see what discounts are available at our Hotels in Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, and Garden City.

Myrtle-Beach.com,  the official Myrtle Beach City Site,  has started a new SOCIAL SITE where Locals, Tourists and business owners can connect and interact.  The site has tremendous potential for deals, discounts, and commerce and is free for all to join.

Hotel advertising usually ignored by Web-savvy public.
As reported this month by the American Hotel & Lodging association
Hotels seem to be upgrading everything except their ad campaigns, and with most travelers getting their hotel information from travel Web sites, few even pay attention to hotel ads anymore, according to this editorial. Furthermore, consumers are far too savvy these days to believe that they'll actually get much of what they see in hotel commercials and, instead, tend to believe what's written in peer reviews. MSNBC/Tripso (7/2/08).
